Congratulations to the Algonquin girls gymnastics team, who on Saturday clinched their second consecutive state championship title. The girls were ranked second behind Andover going into the meet in Shrewsbury, but came out on top with a score of 143.700 over second-place Beverly (141.550).

Chelmsford finished third (141.525) and top-ranked Andover ended the day in fourth (140.850).

You can read all about the meet in this article by the Metrowest Daily News. Southborough photographer Chris Wraight (thawkspix.com) was there, and sent in these photos (click to enlarge).

In other post-season action, the Algonquin girls basketball team will face Wachusett in the Division 1 quarterfinals tonight starting at 7:00 pm in Wachusett. The division match was originally scheduled for last Friday, but was postponed along with a number of other games due to the snow.

On Wednesday, the Algonquin girls ice hockey team will continue its postseason run with a quarterfinal matchup against St. Mary’s Lynn at 8:15 pm at Stoneham Arena. The girls handily beat Franklin last week in the first round to advance to the quarterfinals.

Good luck to all!
