BU student from Southborough at the scene of fatal crash in New Zealand

Surely you’ve heard about the accident this weekend in New Zealand that claimed the lives of three Boston University students traveling abroad. The Metrowest Daily News reports a Southborough resident was with the group of students traveling to a weekend hike, but fortunately was not injured.

A Southborough man studying abroad was in a vehicle behind the van that rolled over Saturday and killed three of his fellow Boston University students, school officials said.

Dustin Holstein, a junior, studying at the University of Auckland, was unharmed, BU Director of Media Relations Colin Riley confirmed.

You can read the MWDN article (it’s brief) here. There’s also some coverage in the Worcester Telegram.

An email to BU students originally listed Holstein as among the injured, but that was later corrected.
