Open discussion thread: Ask questions, share opinions

Tonight’s Southborough UnScheduled. To prepare for my family’s dinner and game night, I’m doing a little “My Southborough UnScheduled”.

I’m signing off for the afternoon and letting you all carry the ball.

It’s time for another open thread. What’s on your mind this week, Southborough?

For those of you new to the blog, the open discussion thread is your place to ask questions, sound off on town issues, or share information with other readers. Here are some suggestions to get you started:

  • Ask questions about programs in town or the town itself
  • Post a note about things that you’re selling or giving away, or things that you want
  • Share notices about upcoming events (Southborough or otherwise)
  • Register your thoughts on town issues or news stories
  • Point out interesting or helpful resources

You can add comments to the thread throughout the week. Check back often to see new comments. (If you read the blog via email or RSS, you might want to check the site from time to time for new comments.)

When if ever, we would have a bridge or means to cross the track at Southboro station.
I have to say, this causes a real issue specially in this winter.

As a proud dad I would like to announce my son Dylan Foleys accomplishment. He is currently a junior at Springfield college and member of their wrestling team. this past weekend Dylan competed in the NCAA div3 north east regional wrestling tournament. He had 3 matches his 1st day and won them all. On Sunday unfortunately during his 1st match he tore the mcl in his knee and lost that match. Determined to qualifie for the NCAA national tournament he along with his trainer taped it up and put on a brace. Dylan then went back out to compete he won his next 2 matches. He will now be competing on the 14th & 15th of this month in cedar rapids Iowa. I believe this is the 1st time in Northborough or Southboroughs history we have ever had a NCAA wrestling qualifier. Any of you that know Dylan know just how devoted and hard he has worked to reach this point. Injury or no injury he is driven to put his all into this completion. Leslie and I couldn’t be more proud of him!

You and Leslie should be proud! Dylan is one of the most dedicated athletes that I have met and he has worked hard to reach this goal. Dylan’s accomplishments and influences on the ARHS wrestling team are still talked about. (He was the one that recruited our son Joe when he was a freshman and in turn our son Drew started Youth wrestling then too.) I have no doubt that Springfield College, ARHS and Southboro will be pulling for Dylan this weekend!! He is wrestling in the arena that he has been striving for since he started wrestling! “Show’em the lights”, Dylan!!

I just placed an on-line order at office depot & was prompted to enter a code for their ‘5% back to schools’ promotion, which credits a school of one’s choice with merchandise credit. One way to get a corporate contribution…

They want an ID number for their program. Anyone know if Southborough Schools has one?

http://www.officedepot.com/a/promo/backtoschool/5percent/

These programs (seems every grocery and office supply store, at least has one) seem to be faddish and self-promoting – but if it provides some value, why not? Assuming it doesn’t run afoul of procurement and ethics regulations.

Sigh.
