Basic Rights in Special Ed, October 21 (pre-register for handouts)

Northborough/Southborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council is holding a program to educate parents and guardians of special education students about their rights.

The Basic Rights in Special Education workshop will take place at the Algonquin Regional High School library on Tuesday, October 21, from 6:30 – 9:00 pm.

Presented by the Federation for Children with Special Needs, the workshop provides families with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities under:

  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA),
  • Massachusetts Special Education Law
  • No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Section 504 and Civil Rights

This workshop is designed to help parents learn how to be effective partners with their child’s school to decide the child’s eligibility for special education, and to plan, make decisions and monitor their child’s progress in school.

This event is open to the public (walk-ins welcome). But pre-registration is requested. And only those who register here by October 18 will receive handouts.
