Medicare and Mass Health talks at Senior Center this week

It looks like healthcare week at the Senior Center.

Tuesday and Wednesday, the center is hosting two talks to help seniors understand what healthplans and resources are right for them.

Then on Thursday, they are hosting the Senior Flu Clinic. (Click here for that post.)

Here are the details on the Medicare and Mass Health talks:

Demystifying Medicare Options
Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 1:00 pm

Get the answers you need to make the right choice during Medicare’s Annual Open Enrollment Period. (From October 15th to December 7th, Medicare enrollees have the option to change their plans.)

Attend a presentation by the center’s SHINE counselor, Carolyn MacLeod. (The SHINE Program — Serving Health Information Needs of Elders — Offers free Medicare and Medicaid advice for all Massachusetts residents.)

Have you been struggling with your drug costs? Have you been concerned about the mounting cost of your Medicare Advantage plan co-pays? Are you just not sure you have the right plan or wonder if there is a better plan out there for you? Is your current plan being discontinued or no longer accepted by your doctor in 2016 and you’re not sure what to do?

Refreshments will be served.

If you need nursing home care, you can always qualify for MassHealth. But is that the right choice?

Elder Law attorney Arthur Bergeron will explain how you could qualify, and help you decide whether that’s the right choice.
