SWL: Police chase leads to crash and K-9 search in Southborough; driver apprehended

Southborough Wicked Local reports that the Southborough Police Department was involved in a dramatic arrest on Friday:

A Webster man led police on a high-speed chase after he was pulled over for driving erratically through the downtown rotary in Westborough. He crashed his car at the intersection of Rte. 85 and Framingham Road in Southborough and fled into the woods before being arrested.

The story describes a chase that started from CVS on Route 3o in Westborough with speeds up to 80 mph. The Westborough PD stopped pursuit as they approached the Southborough border. The article continues:

A short time later, Southborough police reported the same vehicle crashed at the intersection of Rte. 85 and Framingham Road. [The driver] fled the vehicle and ran into the nearby woods.

Westborough, Southborough and the Marlborough police K-9 unit set up a perimeter around the woods. [The driver] was found in the woods and arrested about 4:40 a.m.

[The driver] is charged with driving to endanger, driving with a revoked license for drunk driving, driving with a revoked registration, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to stop for a police officer and a marked-lanes violation. He was also cited for speeding.

He was ordered held on $5,000 bail during his arraignment later Friday in Westborough District Court. [The driver] is due back in court June 21 for a pre-trial hearing.
