Don’t forget to return the Town Census (a.k.a. “Annual Street Listing”)

Above: It literally took me two minutes to update my census, snap a pic, and email it to the Town Clerk. Of course, it wasn’t this pic. (2018 photo by Beth Melo)

The annual Street Listing form was mailed out last month. (It’s also known as the Town Census.) This is a reminder to fill it out and send it in.

The town is required by law to update its street listing of residents each year. All that’s required by you is to review the information, make any necessary corrections, sign, and return it to the Southborough Town Clerk’s office. (Sign and return the form even if no corrections are required.)

To make it easy, the Town Clerk invites residents to file it electronically. Options included scanning or taking a photo of it with your phone and emailing it in. Of course, snail mail is still also allowed.

The Town is now sending reminders for those who haven’t returned their forms yet. It comes with a warning:

The Town Clerk’s Office reminds you to return your 2022 Annual Town Census. Please note that if you do not return your Annual Town census, you will become an “inactive” voter which will require you to complete paperwork when you vote in the upcoming elections.

You can return it by any of these options:

  • Scan it and email the scan to census@southboroughma.com
  • Place your signed street list in the grey mailbox at the Town House
  • Mail the signed form to Town Clerk, 17 Common St. Southborough, MA 01772

If you need another copy of your census, please call the Town Clerk’s Office at (508) 485-0710 x 3005 and we will mail another form to you.

In past years, Town Clerk Jim Hegarty explained that state law requires the Town to conduct a Street Listing of every resident in the town. This street listing helps the town when grants and state aid to cities and towns are considered.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the Town Clerk’s office at (508) 485-0710 x 3005.
