I thought I was done reporting on Algonquin sports for the season. But I forgot about one more big competition scheduled for late June — the national Outdoor Track & Field high school championships.
This summer, Titans team member Miles Lipka scored another big win.
MetroWest Daily News wrote:
The Rhode Island commit from Southborough added a second multi-event national championship to his trophy case when he won the decathlon championship at Nike Nationals at famed Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Lipka, competing for the Algonquin Regional Track Club, scored 7,218 points, nearly 300 more than anyone else in the field. It is the top high school decathlon score this year. His score would have won the U20 championship as well, held concurrently at the same venue.
The first big win the story refers to was Lipka’s first place result for the Pentathlon at the National Indoor Track and Field competition in March.
You can read the full MWDN story here. For the full results for all of the ARHS Boys and Girls Outdoor Track Team members who competed at the Nationals, click here. (You can filter the results by school to show only Algonquin).
Updated (8/1/25 3:25 pm): I initially, inaccurately, wrote that his honor followed “his graduation as a member of ARHS Class of 2025”. It was raised to my attention that while Lipka was a member of the Titans team (and listed as a senior in the competitions), he wasn’t a student at the school. It turns out he was home schooled.
