NSBORO Schools Leadership Updates

Superintendent rated "Exemplary" again; Student Support Services Director appointed

At the Combined School Committees meeting in June, the committees again gave Northborough-Southborough Public Schools Superintendent Greg Martineau top marks for his performance.

The Community Advocate covered the Superintendent’s Performance Review discussion and raise. While I’m sharing that story, I’ll also update on the appointment of a new Director for Student Support Services.

On Sunday, the CA wrote about Martineau’s review:

Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough Superintendent Gregory Martineau received an “exemplary” rating at his annual performance review and a 3.5% raise for fiscal year 2026.

The raise brought Martineau’s salary to $239,095.

“Superintendent Martineau’s work has positively impacted all the staff and students of the three districts he leads. He’s encountered a number of quite challenging situations in the performance of his duties and has effectively handled all of them,” said Roger Challen, a member of the Southborough School Committee.

You can read the full story here.

The latest rating wasn’t a surprise, given the committees’ full backing of Martineau and his performance and leadership last June. At that time, the administration was dealing with public outcry over handling of purported racist incidents and other issues at Neary School. There was even a petition calling for the Superintendent to be suspended and investigated. In contrast, looking at the video of last month’s meeting, there were no comments made by the public (on this or any other topic at the meeting).

You can watch the full meeting here. And you can read the summary of the evaluation from the meeting packet here.

During the meeting, the committees also voted unanimously to appoint Helene Desjardins as the new Director of Student Support Services for NSBORO Schools. The position was a promotion for Desjardins, who has been in the role of Asst. Director since August 2021 and has worked in Northborough and Southborough schools since August 2007. (You can read her resume in the meeting packet here.)

She replaces Marie Alan who retired effective yesterday.
