Next week, the Mass Dept of Conservation and Recreation is holding another special program at the Southborough Library. The workshop for kids is suggested for ages 6 years and older. Pre-registration is required.
It’s one of three educational programs the library is offering this summer in partnership with DCR’s Division of Water Supply.
The “Build a Watershed Model” program will be held on Thursday, July 24th on the Library’s main floor. The library promotes:
Get creative and build your own watershed model to find how water moves through the watershed. Get your hands wet as we use spray bottles to rain on our models and problem-solve how to keep our water clean.
As of this morning, eight slots were left. You can sign kids up here. (You can also learn more about the topic from a DCR video on the watershed, which demonstrates how kids can build models, here.)
Next month, DCR will return to run a program for younger kids ages 2-5. That “Rainy Day Nature Story Time” will feature ” a story with hands-on activities to introduce the water cycle and show what animals do when it rains.” The program will include a water experiment and craft.
That program is Tuesday, August 12th from 11:00 –11:45 am. To sign kids up, click here.
Earlier this month, DCR held a “Watershed Detectives” program for older kids (ages 10+) in conjunction with the Library’s Youth Nature Club.
