[Highlights from last week’s competitions and what’s on tap this week in Algonquin Regional High School varsity sports.]
In what I’m sure players hope is a sign they’re improving, one ARHS teams finally earned its first win of the season over spring break.
Gonk Baseball beat Milford 4-1 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, they followed that with their 8th loss the next day — 3-5 to Westford.
Softball followed a similar pattern, beating Quabbin 6-2 on Wednesday, but losing to Ashland 4-6 on Saturday. That updated their record to 5-4.
On Thursday, Boys Lacrosse lost 5-17 to St John’s. The Telegram’s scoreboard gives the false impression that the team finally broke its losing streak. But it turns out they accidentally reversed the scores from Friday’s game. The Titans are 0-9 after losing 3-18 to Longmeadow.
ARHS Girls Lacrosse is now 5-5 after beating Notre Dame on Thursday 17-3. Photographer Jeff Slovin posted game highlights on Instagram:

ARHS Outdoor Track & Field members competed in the MSTCA’s “Invacational & Pentathlon”. For the Boys, Stephen Green won the Mens 2 Miles and Jakob Rochefort placed third in the 200 Meters. Jillian Belniak came in 2nd place for both the 100 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles, and Charlotte Lipka placed third in the Triple Jump. You can find the full results here.
The Tennis, Rugby, Boys Volleyball, and Girls Golf teams all took a break for the school vacation week.
