Peter J Martin Jr., 76, died peacefully and surrounded by his family at Salem Hospital on July 24, 2026. Peter was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on September 22, 1949. He was the son of Peter J. Martin Sr. and Elizabeth Marion Martin and was raised in Watertown.
Peter loved to ski, travel, and spend time with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, rooting for all of the Boston teams with the fierce loyalty of a true son of Boston.
At 57 years old, Peter began a battle against melanoma, which he bravely fought with humor and grace for almost 20 years. He overcame the odds numerous times, crediting the power of a positive attitude for his ability to continue fighting.
Peter and his family thank his talented medical team whose efforts granted them the time to enjoy countless family joys together, including the births of Peter’s three grandchildren: Ross Cillian, Colin Harris, and Margaret Kenna Martin.
Peter is predeceased by his parents, and three of his four siblings (Grover Martin, William Martin, and June Martin Godfrey) and is survived by his wife, Cameron Cheney Martin, their daughter Kate McCallum Martin, her husband John H Daly III and their children, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Cameron and Peter spent much of their life together in Southborough, Massachusetts, where they will honor Peter’s memory at a Celebration of Life ceremony at the Belmont Chapel at St. Mark’s School in Southborough, Massachusetts followed by a reception at the Southborough Community House on August 23, 2026.

Details for Celebration of Life Service:
August 23, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the Belmont Memorial Chapel at the St. Mark’s School, 25 Marlboro Road, Southborough, MA. Parking is available across the street on Route 85 or there is overflow parking by the gazebo on Main Street, across from the Community House. Following the service there will be a reception at the Community House at 28 Main Street, Southborough, MA.
