[Results from last week’s competitions, media highlights, and what’s on tap this week in Algonquin Regional High School varsity sports.]
Algonquin’s Girls Volleyball and Football had promising opening weeks this fall.
Titans Volleyball opened at home by shutting out Grafton 3-0 on Tuesday. They followed up with a 3-2 win when they traveled to Hudson on Thursday. The Community Advocate highlighted a star player who helped secure the wins:
Three years ago, Charlotte Burke played soccer.
Today, she’s taking phone calls from collegiate volleyball coaches. The Algonquin sophomore has quickly emerged as one of the top players in the Midland-Wachusett League.
The 5-foot-10 outside hitter displayed her volleyball talent during Algonquin’s gutsy five-set win over Hudson on Thursday night. All she did was register 20 kills and reel off three aces to help the Titans improve to 2-0, a year after she started as a freshman on the same team that won just five matches. (read more)
As for ARHS Football, they kicked off their season with a 21-6 win over Nashoba in their home opener on Friday night under the GonkPlex lights. The Telegram reported:
Victor De Oliveira racked up 128 rushing yards and a score while Michael Lefebvre added a score on the ground and a touchdown pass to Viv Satra as the host Titans beat the Wolves.

The opener was a marked change from last season, when the team opened by losing to Nashoba 30-27, which was followed with 4 more losses before they managed a win.
MetroWest Daily News highlighted that Titans Football is opening this season with a challenging schedule. The first five schools the team is pitted against are ones that made last year’s playoffs. When the team posted the 2026 schedule on Instagram in February, it was with the comment “Not a comeback. A reset.”
The first three teams on the schedule are the same rivals as last year. This week’s game could be an even bigger test of the team’s progress. They’ll travel to take on Marlborough. Last year, the Panthers shut them out 22-0.
In contrast to the winning Titants teams, ARHS Soccer teams appeared to still be finding their footing last week. Both ARHS varsity teams are 0-1-1 after two games.
The Boys lost to St. John’s 4-0 on Tuesday, then tied their Thursday home opener with Shrewsbury 2-2.

The Girls lost 3-1 to Concord-Carlisle on Tuesday, then also tied Shrewsbury on Thursday (though neither team scored in that game). Tomorrow night is the Girls’ home opener.
Field Hockey also lost its first match — 4-1 to Marlborough.
In their second week of competitions, Boys Golf suffered its third loss to Nashoba on Thursday. But they also earned their first team win, against Grafton on Tuesday.
This week, Boys and Girls Cross Country teams will host their first meet of the season. That’s at home against Grafton tomorrow.
