  • Exciting Women’s Circle (Senior Center Program) (11:30 am – 11:30 am) @ Arturo’s Restaurant, Westborough: A monthly social group for women through the Senior Center. New members always welcome. This session: Arturo’s Restaurant for Lunch—Meet at the restaurant (or at the Senior Center at 11:00 if you want to share a ride.) Questions, call 508 229-4453.
  • Knitting Club (Senior Center Program) (1:00 – 2:00 pm) @ The Southborough Senior Center, 9 Cordaville Rd: Bi-weekly gathering coordinated by Helen Varney. Come join a wonderful group of ladies working on their own creations and discussing community projects. Stop by for a cup of coffee/tea and visit with the group or join right in!   • Crafternoon: Mosaic Trivets (3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Teens and tweens are invited to make mosaic trivets/art. Ages 10+ are invited. Registration for this event is required. For details, see dedicated post.
  • ARHS – 3v3 Basketball Tournament (6:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School gym, 79 Bartlett St, Northborough: Student event. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Green Beret Foundation $10 per person or $30 a team. Use QR code to sign up (flyer right). See Mrs. Johnston in G102 or Allan Bramhill to pay.

  • Old Farm Trail Hike (9:30 am – 12:00 pm): Event for active seniors organized by the Trailblazers. Meet at the Senior Center to carpool to trail. The about one hour walk includes talk about history of area. A hot dog cookout will follow. Please pre-register. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Food Truck Festival (3:30 – 7:30 pm) @ St. Mark’s meadow (corner of Rte 85 and Rte 30): First of the 4-week series organized by the Southborough Rotary Club this spring. They are bringing in five food trucks. This night, they are also collecting socks for veterans. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Trottier Band Concert for seniors (3:30 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: (This may be full – there were only 2 slots left when I called this morning.) Sign up at the front desk or call 508-229-4453. Free early dinner and concert for seniors featuring the audition-only jazz band from Trottier Middle School. 
  • Tales & Tails (6:15 – 7:15 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Children are welcome to come in and read to a dog. The kids must have some reading ability. Registration is required. Please contact the Children’s Room staff for more information. (This event runs monthly on Wednesday and Thursday of the 4th week of each month.)

  • Audiobook Club (Sci-Fi/Fantasy books) (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: A monthly club focusing on Science Fiction / Fantasy books.The club will be listening to and/or reading Blackfish City by Sam J. Miller. The program is led by library associate Christopher McGinn.

  • Flag placement for Memorial Day (6:00 pm) @ Rural Cemetery, Cordaville Road/Route 85: Residents are invited to participate in placing fresh flags on the graves of our Veterans to honor their service to our nation. VFW Post 3276 and American Legion Post 161 traditionally meet volunteers in front of the Maintenance Building at the back of the cemetery.

  • Poetry Writing Seminar (10:30 am – 2:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Seminar led by poetry scholar Heather J. Macpherson. Please join Heather and the Southborough Poets for a follow up to the January Poetry Writing Seminar. This seminar will focus on reading and reviewing several poems by Emily Dickinson. Works to read include: “My Life had stood a—loaded gun,” “I Started Early–Took my Dog,” and “Before I got My eye put out–” The event is free and open to the public.
  • 4th Annual Southborough Interfaith Iftar Dinner (7:30 pm) @ St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Parish Hall, 27 Main St: For the 4th year, an interfaith dinner will be held during Ramadan. In the Ramadan spirit of giving, organizers will be collecting items for the Southborough Food Pantry. For details, see dedicated post.
