Special Town Meeting, Spring Market downtown, Art Reception, and some revamped events due to rain

Above: Tomorrow, be sure to head to Algonquin for the big Special Town Meeting vote in the morning. You can follow that up by getting in some shopping before Mother’s Day and graduation parties!

It’s a busy time and I ran out of time to look at everything happening over then next week. So, for now, here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend.

Friday, May 9, 2025

  • Live Music with Papa Don’t Preach (8:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: The classic rock and pop, electrified group will perform. For details, click here .
  • NSBORO Relay for Life promoNSBORO Relay for Life (6:00 pm – 11:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School: According to an Instagram post, the rain has pushed them to shorten the event. For details, see dedicated post.

Saturday, May 10, 2025

  • Special Town Meeting (9:00 am) @ Algonquin Regional High School: All registered Southborough voters are invited to vote on whether or not to fund the proposed Neary School Building project (replacing the current school with a new 4 grade school).   • Saturdays at Fay School (9:00 – 11:00 am) @ Fay School: Fay is inviting young kids with their parents for free fun with music (if weather permits that will be on the Playground), but pre-registration is required. For details, click here.
  • Spring MarketSpring Market (12:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Apothecary Artists, 11 Main St: Shop for some self-care or gifts for moms, graduates, etc. Or sign up for a mini photo shoot. Despite the flyer wording, the event is now going to be indoors only. For details, click here.
  • Read to a Dog (3:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Children’s Room: Register for kids ages 5+ to get a chance to read to a therapy dog. For details, see related post.
  • Artist Reception (1:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Reception for Theresa Kniaz, whose artwork is on exhibit through June 30th. Light refreshments will be served. For details, see dedicated post.
