The recent Scouting for Food drive was a success. As we head into the holiday focused on gratitude, I’m sharing BSA’s announcement with their thank you for the community’s generosity to the Southborough Food Pantry.

Given the drive helps residents in need have enough food in time for a happy Thanksgiving, heading into the holiday week is a good time to share the organizers’ gratitude:

Thank you to the Southborough community for stepping up with generous donations. On Saturday, November 8th, Southborough Scouts and families, local students, community members and Southborough Food Pantry volunteers collected and sorted over 9,000 pounds of donations and raised almost $3500 in monetary donations for the Southborough Food Pantry. Your support makes a significant impact!

Special thanks to:

  • The public schools of Southborough, St. Mark’s School, the Southborough Library, the Transfer Station, mysouthborough.com and all that posted on social media for publicizing the event.
  • Merritt Graphics for generously printing our flyers.
  • Pilgrim Church for providing the space to hold the event.
  • The Scouting Troop’s and Pack’s leadership for their support.
  • The Scouting for Food Committee members for organizing and facilitating another successful event.
  • All of our volunteers – from Scouts, families, local students, Food Pantry volunteers and community members that all stepped up to help out.

A tremendous amount of gratitude is owed to the Southborough Food Pantry volunteers and leadership. They work tirelessly all year long to serve our residents in need.

If you missed Scouting for Food, you can still support the Food Pantry! Due to the high volume of generous food donations, the Food Pantry volunteers are currently still working on counting and stocking all of those items. Through the end of this year, if you would like to donate, they gratefully request that you consider donating grocery store gift cards or making a monetary donation here –  https://the-southborough-food-pantry.snwbll.com/scouting-for-food-2025 . This will allow them to purchase fresh meats and produce for their clients each week.

As we head into the holiday season, we should all be grateful to live in such a generous community!

Thank you all!

Sincerely,

Lorna Melo*
