Southborough Recreation has been promoting two opportunities for adults to register to be team players this spring. While both are referred to as “leagues” one is a program that doesn’t require committing to regular attendance.

[Note: If you prefer taking lessons to joining a team, read my post about Rec’s pickleball and tennis classes here.]

Adult Drop-In Basketball League

Formerly referred to as the “Pickup Basketball League”, the program is for ages 18+. Despite the new name, registration is required for the session before you “drop-in” for a game.

Many of the participants have already been playing this winter. (The current session continues until the end of this month.)

The next session begins on April 1st, running through June 17th. Players get together for pickup games twice weekly – calling their own fouls and keeping their own scores.

Games are held from 6:30 – 8:30 pm (Sundays at Fay School’s Harlow Gym and Wednesdays at Trottier Middle School).

Participation costs $75 and covers the 23 games, but attendance doesn’t need to be regular. Click here to register.

Women’s Recreation Slow Pitch Softball League

women's softballSouthborough will field at least one team of 13 players to compete with teams from Northborough, Westborough, Grafton, and Hudson. (Games will be held in a nearby town.)

This league is not super competitive, but if you sign up, you must have some experience playing.

Teams will play one game per week at either 4:30pm or 6pm in a nearby town.

The season runs May 3rd through June 14th and costs $120 to join (team t-shirts included). For details and to register, click here.
