The Southborough Organization for Schools (SOS) is promoting another “Stand Up Comedy Night”.
The SOS is again partnering a comic “and Friends”. (I’m guessing last year’s attendees had fun, since SOS is bringing back the headliner for an encore.)
Unlike last year’s event, this year’s fundraiser will be held in town. The evening event will feature drinks and raffle prizes.
The intent of SOS’ event is to raise funds for the non-profit with the mission to enhance students’ learning experiences at Finn, Woodward, Neary, and Trottier schools.
While the goal is helping young minds, the event is strictly adults only!
Organizers invite you to join them for “a night out filled with prizes, cocktails and loads of laughter”.
Interestingly, the public school’s fundraiser is being held inside a Southborough private school.
I’m guessing that was to enable organizers to bring in a mobile bar (Southborough’s Good to Go). Attendees will be able purchase “craft cocktails”, beer, and wine.
The comedy venue is a theater in the Putnam Family Arts Center at St. Mark’s School, 25 Marlborough Road. Organizers warn:
Parking is limited on the St. Mark’s Campus. Please carpool if possible and adhere to parking signs.
(You can find Arts Center on the campus map here, #13.)
The doors will open at 7:30 pm with the cash bar and raffle. (Scroll down for raffle prize details.) The show will begin at 8:30 pm.
And speaking of the show. . . If you didn’t attend last year’s fundraiser, you’d probably like to know more about the comedians meant to bring the laughs.
Headliner Corey Rodrigues’ website describes:
His comedy is honest and fun, constantly peppering in stories from his life and the lives of those around him. Mix that with a hilarious point of view and he’s able to talk about just about anything.
Rodrigues has performed on the Conan O’Brien show. Other credits include, winner of The Catch a New Rising Star, The Funniest Comic in New England and the 2017 Big Sky Comedy Festivals, “best of the fest” at the 2018 Big Pine Comedy Festival and one of TBS’s Comics to Watch at the New York Comedy Fest.
Joining him onstage are “friends” Boston comedians Bethany Vandelft and Dan Boulger.
Admission is $30 per ticket. You can purchase those here.
The raffle tickets will be sold on-site. According to organizers, the list of prizes is continuing to grow. Already they can promote:
- Red Sox Tickets
- Skin Treatment at Renew Aesthetics ($600 Value)
- Root to Rise Pilates 3-Class Pack & Pilates Socks ($150 Value)
- Samsonite Luggage
- Gift Cards to a number of local restaurants including Picco, Nan’s, and Arturo’s
Plus, they’ll hold a silent auction “for an incredible 2025-2026 Team-Autographed Celtics Basketball!”
