Southborough Rotary was apparently so thrilled with the success of Southborough’s first Oktoberfest last year, they couldn’t wait a full 12 months to put on another one!
Their 2nd annual fest featuring, brews and brats (and other fun) is scheduled for September 27th.
Unlike most Oktoberfests, there’s no cover charge to attend. But (as usual), Rotary will encourage donations for a worthy cause.
Last night, the Select Board approved the alcohol license Rotary needed to proceed with the event. Now, organizers are asking me to help start spreading the word.
As they promoted last year:
Don’t miss this wonderful afternoon of fellowship, food, and fun for a fantastic cause! We can’t wait to see you there!
The festivities are scheduled for 1:00 – 5:00 pm. (Again, that’s on Sunday, September 27th.) No pre-registration is required. Just drop in that afternoon.
The celebration will again take place by the gazebo at take place at the gazebo in front of where the old Fire Station used to be, at 19 Main Street. (Scroll down for parking info.)
The event will feature live music and the Patriots playing on a big screen for fans that don’t want to miss the game.
For their members, the main purpose is contributing to a fun sense of community in town. But the main draw will obviously be the Bavarian food and seasonal beers for sale. (Scroll down for those details.)
Below are photos that Rotary shared on Facebook at the start of last year’s event:
Entertainment
Football: Cheer on the Pats with friends and neighbors when they take on the Tennessee Titans at 1:00 pm.
Live Music: Enjoy “hits spanning from classic rock and roll, to 90s rock, to today’s radio hits!” played by the returning band Simmer Down.
Food & Drinks for Sale
Rotary shared the lineup for the Oktoberfest themed fare that will be selling that afternoon:
- Grill Daddy: Bratwurst & Pretzels
- The DogFather: Hot Dogs, German Potato Salad, & Soft Drinks
- The Donut Stand: Apple Cider Donuts & more
- Owen O’Leary: Oktoberfest & Pumpkin Beer
The Good Cause
Last year, Rotary’s announcement explained why they selected the Southborough Food Pantry as the cause they wanted to support:
Serving the Community: Fighting Food Insecurity
The heart of this event is giving back. All proceeds from the Rotary Club’s fundraising will directly support the Southborough Food Pantry, helping local families fight food insecurity. By purchasing from the vendors, you are helping fund the Rotary’s mission of service!
Event Parking
Last year, Rotary specified in their announcement:
Please note that there is no parking on Main Street. Kindly use the designated parking areas:
- Southborough Library
- Woodward School
- Main Street Shopping Center
- Route 85 (near SM field)
