Obituary: Donata M. (Pellegrini) Sarro, 97

Donata M. (Pellegrini) Sarro, formerly of Brighton and Southborough, died on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica. She was 97.

Born in Brighton on March 6, 1929, Donata was the daughter of the late Cesidio and Assunta Pellegrini. She grew up in Brighton and attended Brighton High School.

After high school, Donata began working full time in Boston, where she met her future husband, Frank, a Dorchester native. They married on April 30, 1950 and settled in Brighton in the three-family home owned by Donata’s parents. Her pride and joy were her children, Karen and Frank, born and raised in Brighton. Following her husband’s passing in 1974, Donata devoted herself to raising their children and caring for family members. Her devotion to family remained a constant throughout her life. Later, when her children were older, she went on to build a career at General Electric Company, where she started as a secretary. Through her hard work and dedication, she was promoted and became the second woman salesperson in the company’s history. In her later years, she worked at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton.

Donata was the beloved wife of the late Francis X. “Frank” Sarro. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Orlando J. Pellegrini, Louis F. Pellegrini, and Edith M. Cousens.

She leaves behind her loving children, Karen A. Cameron (Lawrence) of North Palm Beach, Florida, and Francis J. Sarro (Karen Orsini Sarro) of Wakefield; her grandchildren, Alicia M. Giangregorio (Matthew) and Joseph R. Cameron (Meghan); her great-grandchildren, Stella M. Giangregorio and Myla A. Cameron; and her sister, Mary Borden of Bellingham. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Services will be private.
