MWDN: Southborough Planning Board may have violated Open Meeting Law

According to a report in yesterday’s Metrowest Daily News, a quorum of the Southborough Planning Board held a 20-minute private discussion prior to convening their meeting on Monday night, while an audience of residents sat and waited. One audience member called it “strange and uncomfortable,” and now a noted media attorney says the private discussion was probably a violation of the state’s Open Meeting Law. Friday is the last day to get nomination papers to run for office; Still no contested races

With only a couple days left to pull nominations papers, it’s shaping up to be a quiet election season in Southborough. Seats on the Board of Selectmen, both school committees, and the Planning Board are among those up for grabs, but so far none of the races are contested. Superintendent to discuss school budget at the Senior Center on Wednesday

Southborough’s K-8 school budget has received stamps of approval from all key boards and committees, now it just needs a stamp of approval from voters.
