MWDN: Police chief and Southborough can’t agree on three-year deal
For the past several months, the Board of Selectmen and Police Chief Jane Moran have been negotiating in executive session on a new contract for the chief. The Metrowest Daily News reported this weekend, they were unable to reach agreement on a 3-year contract – the norm for most town department heads – and instead laid out a 1-year deal. Power should be restored to all in Southborough by end of day today
As of this morning, there were only 84 customers in Southborough who remain without power after Hurricane Sandy blew through town on Monday, and National Grid says those folks should have their power back by the end of the day today. Rooney: National Grid understaffed for storm response; Halloween will not be canceled
In a statement released just a short time ago, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen John Rooney said National Grid is still assessing damage for many of those who remain without power tonight. While Rooney commended National Grid for improvements made after storms a year ago, he said the utility appears to be suffering from “an utter lack of manpower” in its response to Hurricane Sandy.
