The annual Thanksgiving Day match up between Algonquin and Westborough will be all about bragging rights this year. Both sides are going into the game with a 1-9 record, so I don’t believe there are any playoff implications for either team, but no doubt the game with be spirited nonetheless. It was a heartbreaker at Foley Stadium last night. The Algonquin girls field hockey team lost in sudden-death overtime in the state semifinal game after Longmeadow scored on a lucky bounce with only 2:31 left to play. The final was 1-0. New players can sign up for the spring girls lacrosse season starting tomorrow. The Northborough-Southborough Girls Lacrosse (NSGL) league is open to girls in both towns in grades 3 through 8. New this year, the league is expanding to include players in first and second grades, as well.
