Regional school committee declines to get in middle of debt issue
At a special meeting this week, the regional school committee decided to stay out of the tiff between Northborough and Southborough over how to split debt remaining on the Algonquin renovation. The Northborough Board of Selectmen had asked them to file a request for a declaratory judgment on the issue, but the school committee voted unanimously not to do that. At the Regional School Committee meting last week, committee members discussed how to resolve the disagreement between Northborough and Southborough over the Algonquin debt assessment. Good news (finally!) on school budgets, along with some words of caution
There hasn’t been much good news on the budget front this year, but School Superintendent Charles Gobron got to share some last night. Gobron told the school committee that thanks to additional cuts, cooperation from teachers, and some help from Uncle Sam, the school was able to trim their budget by an additional $350K.
