Voluntary water ban starts Sunday

A voluntary odd/even water restriction will be in effect from June 21 to September 22. Under the ban, outside water use is restricted based on your house number, so odd-numbered houses use water on odd-numbered days, and even-numbered houses use water on even-numbered days.

We got another reverse-911 call last night about the break-ins. The message was the same as on Wednesday night — check your screens for cuts and lock your windows and doors. Anything suspicious, call the police.

Neary fifth grader Thomas Polutchko placed first in his age group at the championship round of MLB’s Pitch, Hit & Run skills competition held earlier this month at Fenway. The Metrowest Daily News has the stats:

Selectmen address concerns about police chief search

Earlier this week selectmen put together the 7-member committee that will search for a new police chief. The committee will serve an advisory role to the Board of Selectmen. They’ll interview candidates and make recommendations on finalists, but selectmen will have final say over who is hired.

Get rid of your old electronic equipment at Algonquin on Saturday morning and help out the Algonquin Green Club in the process.
Technology Recycling Day runs from 8:00 am to noon. Items accepted include:

Computer monitors
Laptops
CPUs
Speakers
Mice and keyboards
Computer accessories
All printers
Camera equipment
Stereos
VCRs
TVs
Appliances
IPods and MP3 players
Phones
Microwaves

Small items are $10, and larger items like console TVs and appliances are $20.
