Southborough unemployment rate highest in a long, long time

by susan on October 22, 2009

Southborough’s unemployment rate jumped a full point in September to 7.5%. I found data going back as far as 1990, and that’s the highest rate we’ve seen in all that time.

The Boston Globe reports the Massachusetts unemployment rate for September was the highest since the 1970’s.

Southborough wasn’t the only area town to see an increase. Northborough, Hopkinton, and Westborough all ticked up in September, but none quite as sharply as Southborough.
