Kids in Northborough and Southborough will get dismissed early from school on Wednesday thanks to the coming snow. And for those of you looking forward to the school committee meeting, you’ll have to wait one more day. The meeting, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday night, has been postponed to Thursday at 6:30 pm. It will still be held in the library at Trottier.

St. Mark’s has long opened the doors of its skating rink to Southborough residents during school vacation, and next week will be no exception. But skaters this year have another option for February vacation, or any day for that matter — the outdoor community skating rink in Fayville.

The flakes haven’t even started to fall, but already the nor’easter predicted for tomorrow has claimed its first casualty. The public forum on Southborough’s villages sponsored by the Zoning Advisory Committee was to be held tomorrow night, but due to the impending storm, it has been rescheduled to February 24.

The Friends of Southborough Recreation held a Valentine’s party for kids yesterday afternoon at the Arts Center. Recreation Director Doreen Ferguson said the party was a hit with over 50 children attending. She sent along these photos of the event.

Last month members of the Algonquin girls soccer team were awarded plaques to commemorate their 2009 state championship win. And last week, they were honored by Southborough and Northborough’s state representatives at the state house. Also honored was the Algonquin girls tennis team who won the state championship last June.
