Southborough’s K-8 school budget has received stamps of approval from all key boards and committees, now it just needs a stamp of approval from voters. Toward that end, Superintendent Charles Gobron will make his annual visit to the Senior Center on Wednesday to discuss his department’s request.

Attending last week’s Board of Selectmen meeting, Gobron announced he was able to reduce the latest K-8 budget request by $19K by eliminating items from custodial supply accounts, to bring the total budget for fiscal year 2014 down to $17.6M, a 3.95% increase over last year.

The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously at the meeting to support the budget when it comes to the floor of Town Meeting next month. The Advisory Committee, also in attendance, did the same.

Gobron will visit with seniors at a luncheon at the Southborough Senior Center on Wednesday, March 20, to share information about the budget and answer questions. Lunch starts at 11:30 am, and Gobron’s presentation begins at 12:00 pm. For more information, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
