Police have updated their information on the construction planned for Route 85 near the train station this weekend.

Changes from the earlier notice are:

  • Construction will begin an hour earlier, at 8:00 pm on Friday
  • Only local traffic will be allowed on Bridge Street – allowing access to Carbone’s and Hopkinton State Park, but only from the Hopkinton side.

Here is the full advisory from Southborough Police Department:

Please be advised that beginning Friday, July 12 at 8:00 PM, Rt. 85 in Southborough at the Hopkinton town line will be closed and not re-open until Monday July 15 at 5:00 AM due to bridge construction.

Motorists will be detoured using Southville Road (east) into Ashland then directed to travel Rt.135 (west) back to Hopkinton.

Hopkinton State Park and Carbones Restaurant will remain open, however accessible only from the Hopkinton side.

The MBTA Station and McCarthy Pool Company will remain accessible.

Bridge St. in Southborough will be closed to thru traffic and open for local traffic only.

The heavy construction equipment will stay in operation 24 hrs/day until completion of the project.

Police officers will be on-duty to assist with the detour.
