Varsity post-season tournaments are underway, and Algonquin athletics already has some things to boast about.
Boys Volleyball came through their division tournament’s First Round last Wednesday. They bested 11th seed Wachusetts 3-2. This evening, the 6th seed team face 12th seed Natick for the Quarter Finals. You can come cheer them on at home court (but you’ll need to buy tickets).
Boys Lacrosse heads into their tournament at 5th seed this week. They’ll look to dominate 12th seed Northampton in their First Round.
In Tennis, Riyan Farhat and Christian Jorgensen won the Boys CMASS Doubles Championship. And Darby Kim tied in the Girls CMASS Singles Finals.
In the team competitions, second seed Boys earned a BYE on their First Round. (Their Quarter Final is Friday.) But, the Ninth seed Girls will have to overcome eighth seed Marlborough in their First Round this Tuesday. All three will compete in the state semi-finals on June 18th at St. John’s High School.
Girls Outdoor Track came in 2nd place for their sectionals. Both the Boys and Girls teams head to their State Championships this weekend.
Baseball tied with Shrewsbury for title of League Champs. Their tournament brackets (and Softball’s) are yet to be posted.
ARHS Girls Rugby came in third place at their State Championships. (It’s not what the past champs were shooting for at season start. But it was an accomplishment given the injuries sustained by the team in their bus accident early in the season.)
Girls Lacrosse brackets have been posted, and it looks like ARHS failed to make those tournaments this spring.
