Coffeehouse to Save the Children – June 9

Algonquin students are holding a Coffeehouse. They are inviting the community to join them to “Save the Children”.

The coffeehouse will be on Thursday, June 9th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the high school’s Black Box Theater. The public is invited to join them for live student performances over coffee and baked treats.

To raise money for Save the Children, tickets will be sold for $2.student and $3/adults. (Kids can attend for free.) They will also be selling baked goods and refreshments.

All of the money collected will go to Save the Children. And Save the Children (US) promotes that 87% of their funds go to the cause.*

Organizers will also take the opportunity that night to educate the crowd about their mission and the project.

The charity’s website pitches:

Save the Children invests in childhood – every day, in times of crisis and for our future. In the United States and around the world, we give children a healthy start, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. By transforming children’s lives now, we change the course of their future and ours.

*(Only 8% of Save the Children’s budget goes to fundraising and 5% to general admin and management.)
