  • Mindfulness for Preschoolers (10:30 am) @ Southborough Library: Sheryl White of Baby Kneads will lead this group for preschoolers to help them be more aware of and in the present moment. These techniques can be used at home to improve concentration and relationships with others. For details, see dedicated post

  • Fraud Squad (Senior Center Program) (12:00 – 1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: The Fraud Squad Players will be educating seniors on scams: The players act out scripted scenes depicting real-life stories of attempts (often successful) by fraudsters to separate the elderly from their money, followed by a peer group discussion. It begins with light lunch followed by a 12:30 pm presentation. There is a suggested donation of $6/ea. Please sign up by calling the senior center at 508-229-4453. For details, see dedicated post.

    How to Organize and Declutter your Home (1:00 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Part of a “Homeowners spring series” this free workshop is run by an expert on helping clients of all ages with the overwhelming task of going through personal belongings during a transition. Light refreshments provided. For details, see flyer right.

  • Poet Tea (3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Tea time! Join the Southborough Library for its annual Poet Tea: Tea & Poetry in celebration of National Poetry Month. Refreshments will be provided by volunteers. Poetry readings this year focus on the theme Grimm’s Fairy Tales. For details, see dedicated post

  • Bike Ride (Senior Center Program) (9:00 am) @ meet at the Senior Center: Carpool to the Cape Cod Canal Bike Path. Please sign up for these outdoor activities by calling 508-229-4453. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Author Night: Meredith O’Brien (7:00 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: (Let’s hope 3rd time’s the charm for this twice cancelled event.) The resident author and journalist will talk about her book “Mr. Clark’s Big Band: A Year of Laughter, Tears, and Jazz in a Middle School Band Room.” O’Brien wrote about her experience shadowing the Trottier Middle School Big Band during the 2012-2013 school year.   • Senior Bingo (12:00 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Come join Doriann Jasinski for a wonderful afternoon of Bingo and prizes. The room will be open at 11:15 am if you would like to bring your lunch or join in with the Café lunch for a suggested donation of $3. There will be a basket for your donation on the kitchen counter that day. Café Lunch: Sweet & Sour Kielbasa (also included are dessert and a drink).   • Car Seat Inspection Day (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ 21 Main St parking log – behind the Fire Station: Southborough Kindergroup welcomes the Southborough community to have trained technicians inspect your car seat. The technicians are happy to help with the installation of new car seats, provide advice on whether it is the right car seat for your child, or simply check to make sure your existing car seat is installed properly.   • Electronic, Appliance, and Bicycle Recycle Day (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ Saint Anne’s Church parking lot, 20 Boston Road: Electronic and Appliances collected for recycling for a fee. Bicycles accepted at no charge. For details, contact Dennis Wood at 508-277-7513 denwaynewood@yahoo.com. (Or check the calendar listing on the blog for the fees.) A portion of the event proceeds will be paid to St. Anne’s Church.
  • Chestnut Hill Farm: Intro to Beekeeping (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm, Chestnut Hill Road: An introductory class and workshop on beekeeping for ages 12 and up. (Pre-registration and a fee are required.) The class is designed for people who have been thinking about becoming a beekeeper, but aren’t quite sure, and for those who want to know more about honeybees and how they make golden, delicious honey.  For details or to register, see TTOR’s website.
  • Dave Garden (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Join us for a fun time with music, singing, and dancing! This program is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. All are welcome. Registration is not required.

  • Little League Opening Day (10:30 am – 4:00 pm) @ Mooney Field Complex at Finn School, Parkerville Road: Opening Day for Southborough Little League! Join them for our annual parade along with games, radar gun, long toss, burgers and dogs and of course a guest appearance by Wally the Green Monster. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Piano Music from Four Continents (1:00 pm) @ Pilgrim Church, 15 Common St: Southborough native Keane Southard will be performing free for the public. Works include music by John Foulds, Camargo Guarnieri, and his own personal compositions. He will also share spoken insights, personal connections, and stories about the music and their composers to create an engaging and informal concert experience. For details, see dedicated post.
