Events this week: Truck Day, Senior Hike, Concert Series, and Meet the Farmer (Updated again)

  • Hearing Screening for seniors (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Senior Center: Peter and Alex Lee, Hearing Instrument Specialists from Professional Hearing, will provide free screenings every 20 minutes. Sign up at the front desk or call (508) 229-4453.
  • Understanding and Responding to Dementia (10:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: This is an education program sponsored and presented by the Alzheimer’s Association. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Big Joe the Storyteller (11:00 am) @ Southborough Library, main level: There will be plenty of laughter when Big Joe shares some silly tales! This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library. No registration necessary. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Algonquin Cross Country Summer Series ( 6:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School athletic fields: Algonquin Cross Country is inviting runners of all ages and abilities to come together and share a love of running. This session features an Ekiden Relay Race. For more details see dedicated post.
  • Pajama Storytime (7:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Bring a blanket and listen to stories outside on the lawn – weather permitting. (In the case of inclement weather, story time will be held in the Children’s Room).

Thursday, August 2, 2018

  • Bay Circuit Trail (9:30 am) @ meet at the Southborough Senior Center: A free program of the Trailblazers for active seniors. Please register for the event by calling 508-229-4453. Carpool to the next section of trail. (This is one of a series of hikes on the trail for the group.) Carl Guyer will lead the hike. For details, see Trailblazers’ summer events flyer.
  • Truck Day at the Library (10:30 am) @ Southborough Library parking lot: Children will be able to explore some police cars, fire engines, dump trucks and more!  For more details, see dedicated post.
  • Southborough Summer Concert Series (6:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Neary School grounds: Rescheduled from last week, but with a replacement act. Stillwater String Band will be playing instead. Stay tuned for a new post.

Saturday, August 4, 2018

  • Meet the Farmer (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Monthly free event. The farm crew will be on-hand to answer all your questions about the CSA and vegetable operations. In addition to a basic meet and greet, each event will feature educational and fun activities for kids and grown-ups. While you’re there, you can take advantage of the open Farm Stand from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.

  • Summer Evening Strolls at Beals Preserve (6:30 pm) @ Park and meet in cul de sac at the end of Red Gate Lane off Flagg Rd: The public is invited to join SOLF for a monthly, informal evening stroll along the trails of the beautiful Beals Preserve. They will be looking at the flora and fauna as well as noting a bit of history of this former pasture. Bring cameras and binoculars, but, please, no dogs. For more details, see dedicated post.
