Southborough Police assist in DEA arrest

Southborough Police announced last night that they assisted the DEA with an arrest at the home of a Southborough woman on Thursday morning on charges related to a drug case.

Below are the details from the US Attorney’s Office:

An Uxbridge doctor and her former employee were arrested today and charged in federal court in Boston in connection with a federal drug conspiracy involving the amphetamine Adderall.
[The accused doctor] was indicted on one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute Adderall and three counts of distributing and dispensing Adderall. [A Southborough woman], was indicted on one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute Adderall, and four counts of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute Adderall. [The accused] were arrested today and will appear in federal court in Boston this afternoon.

According to the indictment unsealed today, between March 2016 and February 2018, [the accused] conspired with one another and others to distribute Adderall, an amphetamine, for reasons other than for a legitimate medical purpose and not in the usual course of medical practice.

Each charge provides a sentence of no greater than 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling; Brian D. Boyle, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, New England Division; Uxbridge Police Chief Marc Montminy; and Southborough Police Chief Kenneth Paulhus made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig Estes of Lelling’s Narcotics and Money Laundering Unit is prosecuting the case.

The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
