Scouting for Food: Flyer posting this Saturday; pickup November 9th

Kids in town will be approaching your doors this weekend. But most won’t be ringing doorbells (or looking for more candy).

It’s time for the big annual Scouting for Food drive to support the Southborough Food Pantry. That means, you’ll be seeing scouts of all types around town, putting out notices this Saturday. This year, kids will be given door hangers to promote next week’s big food drive.

On Saturday, November 9th, they’ll be back in your neighborhood hoping to gather a bounty for the pantry.

Volunteers looking to help promote the drive should head to Pilgrim Church this Friday night (6:00 – 8:00 pm – not before) or Saturday morning (8:00 – 10:00 am).

For those of you interested in donating food/goods, here are more details:

Scouting for Food

Sample donation bag (contributed photo 2018)Saturday, November 2nd, marks the beginning of Southborough’s Annual Scouting for Food drive. Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts all over town will be distributing door hangers which describe the details of the food drive. This is the largest food drive of the entire year for the Southborough Food Pantry and is essential for keeping the shelves stocked through the winter and beyond. Last year over 10,000 lbs. of food was donated!

Making a donation is simple. Just leave your contributions of food, personal care, and paper products in bags or boxes at the end of your driveway by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9th when Scouts will begin collecting donations. Please be sure to check expiration dates on food items, as the food pantry cannot distribute expired food.

The Southborough Food Pantry and the Scouts thank you for your support!
