Post-season Update: Volleyball in District Semi-Finals and Soccer in Qtr Finals today; Field Hockey to Finals on Saturday

Algonquin’s successful post season is moving quickly. It’s already time for another update on teams playing in the regional Division 1 series.

Yesterday, ARHS Field Hockey bested Wachusetts in the Quarter Finals. The Gonk girls won in overtime, 3-2. The Telegram covered the action:

Sabrina Ferro scored the winner in overtime to power the second-seeded Tomahawks (17-1-2) past No. 3 seed (16-2-1) in a Central Mass. Division 1 semifinal at Grafton High. Heather Hodgkins and Alex Moll also scored for Algonquin

This Saturday, the 2nd seed girls will have to face off against the only team to beat them this fall, top seed Nashoba. The district Finals are November 9th, 12:45 pm at Grafton High.

ARHS Volleyball bested Franklin 4-1 in the Quarter Finals yesterday. The Telegram detailed:

Chloe Chiota (13 kills, 15 digs), Olivia Chiota (7 kills, 14 digs, 3 blocks), Rachel White (38 assists, 4 aces), and Kiley Martin (6 kills, 6 blocks) lifted the No. 3 Tomahawks (17-2) in the Central/West Division 1 quarterfinals. Set scores were 25-22, 25-23, 26-28, 25-13.

Now the girls have to face upperseed Hopkinton in the Semi-Finals. That’s at Framingham High this afternoon at 4:00 pm. The undefeated Hopkinton Hawks are one of the only two teams that beat the T-Hawks this fall.

Also this afternoon is ARHS Soccer’s entry into the regionals. Both the Girls and Boys will play in the Quarter Finals at Algonquin.

The topseed Gonk Girls should be favored over 8th seed Tantasqua, a team they beat 2-0 earlier this season. That game is at 5:00 pm.

The Boys will play at 7:00 pm. The 2nd seed T-Hawks will look to beat 7th seed Westborough, a team they tied earlier this fall.
