Mark your calendar: Santa flies into Southborough on Saturday, December 7

I hate to bring it up, but. . . Christmas celebrations and festivities aren’t that far away. The biggest weekend for holiday celebrations and sales is a month from yesterday.

Santa will be making his traditional pre-Christmas trip to town on the first Saturday in December – December 7th. Weather permitting, he’ll be flying in by helicopter again.

(As I always explained to the young ones – reindeer can only fly on Christmas Eve, and the North Pole is quite a long trip by land. It just makes sense.)

The helicopter lands on the St. Mark’s field at the corner of Routes 30 and 85 at noon. The big guy emerges to greet the crowd buzzing with excitement. After a few minutes, he works his way through to cross the street to the Community House.

Inside is where he fulfills his real purpose – to find out from children what they want for Christmas (while grownups snap pictures)

The annual event is organized by Southborough Kindergroup. Here is their announcement of this year’s details:

Southborough Kindergroup invites you to the 42nd annual Santa Day! See Santa arrive in his helicopter and land on St. Mark’s Field in Southborough! Then join us at the Community House for lots of holiday fun that includes a fantastic raffle, live music, crafts, movies, face painting and of course the chance to meet Santa and get your picture taken with him!

*Food trucks – the Dogfather and Yummy Mummy will be on St. Mark’s Field serving up tasty bites before and after Santa’s arrival.

*Professional photos – this year we will once again have a professional photographer from Memories In an Instant. There will be a digital photo option this year too!

*Entertainment – the fantastic Mister Vic will be singing and playing his guitar as you wait in line to see Santa! There will also be live music by the ARHS choir, crafts, and holiday movies to enjoy.

*Face painting – children can meet Elsa & Olaf and have their face painted!

*Raffle – we will have a raffle of fantastic prizes donated by local businesses. Prizes include:
* Nancy Gould Photography 1-hour weekday photo session within 10 miles of Southborough for up to 5 people and $200 print credit
* Release Well-Being Center 1-Month Breathe and Bliss Membership
