Southborough has officially cancelled Heritage Day. That means there won’t be a parade or festivities on the field on Monday, October 12th. The news isn’t a surprise, just another disappointment.

Southborough Recreation’s Tim Davis emailed me this afternoon. He shared the official announcement:

Out of a continued abundance of caution and with the safety of our residents in mind, it is the decision of the Town to cancel Heritage Day 2020. We look forward to returning in the fall of 2021.

He explained:

With the anticipated crowd sizes, mixed with the guidelines by the state there was no scenario that we felt safe putting on this event. Recreation will be looking at smaller alternative events and pop ups this fall.

I haven’t had a chance to touch base with the Rotary Club about their annual Heritage Day eve Pumpkin Stroll. So, stay tuned for word on that one.
