Virtual Arts & Crafts: Rainbows, Spooky Puppets, Haunted Gingerbread Houses, and a painting party

10-19 yr olds can macramé rainbows next week. Starting next month, workshops will shift to Halloween and Thanksgiving themed arts and crafts.

The Southborough Library has added to its fall schedule of arts and crafts workshops for teens and tweens.

As I previously posted, next week, the Library is holding a rainbow themed macramé session over zoom. It’s the last workshop that feels a bit like summer. In October, the themes shift to fall holidays.

As with past sessions, 10-19 year olds are invited to sign up for more virtual sessions over zoom. Registration is handled through through Southborough Recreation’s website. Each program is free but limited.

In advance, participants will receive kits, with all the crafting materials they’ll need. But how they’ll get the materials is beginning to vary. More details are below.

The next three sessions are sponsored through a grant from the Mass Cultural Council and capped at the first 16 registered participants:

Rainbow Macramé

Who doesn’t love a rainbow? This program teaches basic fiber skills and allows participants to make 2 of these adorable rainbow pieces — with supplies to turn them into keychains if desired, or to simply have them hanging from windows or rear view mirror. Materials will be shipped in advance.

This Halloween-themed workshop will allow for maximum creativity and for sure no two sock people will be alike! Basic sewing skills will be taught.

Haunted Gingerbread Houses
Wednesday, October 28 from 3:00 – 4:30 pm

Participants will receive one pre-made/assembled gingerbread house (made from scratch with love!), 3 royal icings and a tub of buttercream frosting, along with some of the staples candy-wise. Patrons can supply their own additional supplies from home, and the workshop will showcase how some staple items from the pantry can be used creatively.

Registered participants will need to separately schedule a library curbside pickup appointment to get their gingerbread house and kit.
