Some Southborough birds owe thanks to an ‘Eagle’

An Eagle Scout, that is.

The Community Advocate reported that Southborough resident Philip B. Kachajian recently became Boy Scout Troop 92’s 27th Eagle Scout. And his Eagle project was to reclaim and renovate the man-made pond behind the Neary School tennis courts as a spot for ice skating in the winter and bird-watching year-round.

I took a trip to the pond yesterday and saw more birds than I could identify (which, admittedly, isn’t saying much). They had taken up residence in the birdhouses Philip installed, and were happily flittering about.

Here are some photos, with thanks to Philip for reclaiming this lovely spot. Read more about his project in the Community Advocate.
