Special delivery in Southborough

It’s not every day that Southborough emergency responders have a hand in bringing life into the world, but yesterday was one of those days, and they did it in dramatic fashion. Here are the details from the Southborough Fire Department.

At 7:41 am on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, Southborough’s 9-1-1 center received a call for a woman in labor in a car in the Walgreen’s parking lot at the intersection of Route 9 and Oak Hill Road.

Fire Department EMTs arrived on scene at 7:46 AM to find a woman in active labor in a vehicle. She was placed in Ambulance 28 and transportation was started to Metrowest Framingham Hospital at 7:50 am.

Baby Luke was born during transport to the Hospital at 7:52 am.  Mother and son were delivered to MetroWest Medical Center without delay or incident.

3 cheers for the Southborough Emergency responders!

I can still remember 11 years ago this month placing a frantic call to 9-1-1. Southborough Police, Fire, and EMT’s arrived right away – just in time to deliver my daughter Elena into the world! (if the hospital says you have plenty of time and you’ll me more comfortable at home – don’t necessarily believe it).
