Both the Algonquin and Assabet girls basketball teams have had successful seasons this year, and both will kick off their playoff runs this week.
On Tuesday Assabet will face Douglas in the first round of the Central Mass Division 3 championship. With a 16-4 record, Assabet goes into the tournament as the fourth seed. Douglas is ranked 13th. The game starts at 7:00 pm at Assabet.
The Algonquin girls have a bye in the first round of the Central Mass Division 1 state championship. Third seed Algonquin (15-5) will take on rival and sixth seed Westborough (13-7) in the quarter-finals on Friday. The game starts at 7:00 pm at Algonquin.
