New Balance Reach The Beach is a relay race from Wachusett to Westport to be held later this month. It’s a 200 mile journey, and some of those miles will pass through Southborough.

The race is a 24-hour event taking place on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21. Runners will pass through Southborough on Friday evening. One of the course legs runs from Algonquin to Trottier Middle School, with the next leg going from Trottier to Hopkinton State Park.

The Southborough Community Emergency Response Team and Medical Reserve Corps is looking for volunteers to help with the flow of traffic and relay runners during the event. Here are the details:

Friday May 20th, 4pm – 11pm for the New Balance Reach The Beach Massachusetts 200 mile Relay Race. We need volunteers to assist with the flow of vehicles and relay runners at this event. To register to volunteer please go to www.ma.rtbrelay.com and under the “Volunteer” section, click on “Individual Sign Up”. Once there locate the ‘Southborough CERT/MRC’ in that drop down menu and individually register under our group.

You can find more information about the race and the course on the Reach The Beach website (ma.rtbrelay.com).
