Members of the Southborough Fire Department headed to Springfield after the devastating tornadoes last week to help with the disaster response. Now they’re helping in another way.

In coordination with the firefighters union, Southborough firefighters will be collecting supplies for tornado victims at the fire station through Thursday, June 9. Requested items include water, blue tarps, flashlights, batteries, glow sticks, bungee cords and rope. Cash donations cannot be accepted.

Southborough firefighter Dave Wills said the Southborough Permanent Firefighters Union has set aside funds that will be used to purchase some supplies, but help from the community would be appreciated. All donations will be distributed to residents in the 19 communities affected by the storms last week.

Supplies will be collected at the Southborough Fire Station (21 Main Street) through Thursday.

This is awesome! I grew up in one of the towns affected by the tornado and I can tell you it’s complete devastation out there. The pictures are unbelievable!
