Gas prices in Southborough mostly above average

Yesterday came word that gas prices in Massachusetts fell seven cents a gallon in the last week to an average of $3.55 per gallon. I decided to take a drive around town to find out how gas prices compare here in Southborough.

Of the five stations I checked on Monday afternoon, only one – Falconi Brothers on Boston Road – was below the state average for a gallon of regular unleaded. Here’s the round-up.

  • Falconi Brothers, 29 Boston Road: $3.44/gal
  • Gulf, 145 Boston Road: $3.61
  • Mobile, 76 Worcester Road: $3.59/gal
  • Gulf, 344 Turnpike Road (Route 9 east): $3.59/gal
  • Gulf, 365 Turnpike Road (Route 9 west): $3.59/gal

Susan is that $3.44 a cash only price? Gas stations love to advertise their cash only price, if they have one, and then show the credit card price in smaller font somewhere else. Personally I’ve found Southborough to have pretty good prices compared to Marlborough, Northborough and Hopkinton with the two Gulf’s on 9 east/west being the most consistently low priced. Anyone have a low priced favorite they’d like to plug?

Very interesting…. Falconi’s price is dramatically lower than the others…. good to know…. thanks for doing this research.

Interesting indeed!

I stopped at Falconi today (before reading this post) because I have
the Stop and Shop gas rewards and they honor them (and they pump
your gas – a luxury these days).

I paid by credit card. The slip says the regular price/gallon is 3.449, as Susan stated.
I got 20 cents off per gallon so I paid 3.249/gallon.

I’m surprised – their prices usually seem a lot higher than other places.

A great resource is http://www.gasbuddy.com. It relies on self-reported prices but is very current.

say what?

Re: Falconi & low gas prices

FUNNY!!!

Once in a while their gas prices are lower. Typically they’re HIGHER. If you’re serious
about saving money on fuel prices, drive a few miles to AL Prime Energy in Framing- ham. their prices are ALWAYS lower than anyone’s in Southborough.
