Southborough police log (10/12 – 10/17): Armed robbery, a suspicious pizza delivery guy, and one clever racoon

The good folks at the Southborough Police Department have been posting log information on their new Facebook page, something I consider a fabulous development. Over the years many of you have asked me to publish the police logs, so here you go!

Don’t forget, if you’re a Facebook user you can also get the logs directly from the source. Just go to the SPD Facebook page and click Like.

  • 1:11 am – Officers assisted a disabled motorist on Central Street.
  • 5:18 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Meetinghouse Lane residence.
  • 9:18 am – A medical was reported at a Middle Road address.
  • 10:40 am – A resident of Choate Lane reported that he was a victim of identity theft, as the result of data loss from his computer. The responding officer took a report, and will be following up with the victim.
  • 11:30 am – Officers investigated an abandoned 911 call from a Mt. Vickery Road residence.
  • 1:17 pm – A one car motor vehicle accident was reported on Cordaville Road. No injury was reported, but the accident resulted in heavy damage to a fire hydrant in the area.
  • 2:02 pm – Officers assisted a disabled motorist on Turnpike Road.
  • 2:37 pm – Officers assisted another disabled motorist on Turnpike Road.
  • 6:34 pm – A medical was reported at a Sarsenstone Way residence.
  • 7:51 pm – Officers investigated an abandoned 911 call from a Southville Road business.

  • 2:47 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Turnpike Road business.
  • 6:47 am – Officers investigated a two car, motor vehicle accident on Cordaville Road. No injuries were reported from the scene.
  • 8:30 am – Officers assisted a disabled motorist on Turnpike Road.
  • 12:15 pm – A medical was reported on Newton Street.
  • 12:25 pm – Officers investigated a two car, motor vehicle accident on Pleasant Street. No injuries were reported from the scene.
  • 3:56 pm – Officers investigated an abandoned 911 call from a business on Turnpike Road.
  • 4:18 pm – A suspicious motor vehicle was reported at a Cordaville Road business. An officer responded and spoke with the driver. Everything checked out o.k.
  • 4:43 pm – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at an Oregon Road residence.
  • 5:00 pm – Officers investigated a two car, motor vehicle accident on Cordaville Road. No injuries were reported from the scene.
  • 7:44 pm – A solicitor was reported to be working after hours on Meetinghouse Lane. The solicitor was located and asked to leave the area.
  • 8:05 pm – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Sears Road address.
  • 8:11 pm – A robbery was reported by the owner of a Route 9 business. The owner reported to police that he was robbed at gunpoint by two black males. Officers responded to the scene; took a report; and will be investigating the incident. (more)

  • 11:10 pm – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Turnpike Road business.

Fri day, October 14, 2011

  • 12:34 am – An erratic operator was reported to be entering Southborough from Westborough on Turnpike Road. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • 2:53 am – A Pinecone Drive resident called to report that someone has turned off power to their house, and they believe that someone is now in their garage. A raccoon was found in the garage, and it was determined the raccoon had pulled down the breaker switch.
  • 7:47 am – A parking complaint was called in from Neary School. A maintenance vehicle was parked near the entrance to the school, and was causing a traffic jam with arriving parents. The vehicle had left the area prior to the responding officer’s arrival.
  • 8:12 am – Officers investigated an abandoned 911 call from a Constitution Drive residence.
  • 10:20 am – Officers investigated a two car, motor vehicle accident on Marlboro Road. No injuries were reported from the scene.
  • 11:35 pm – A Parkerville Road resident reported that an employee took one of his vehicles without permission. Officers responded and took a report.
  • 2:55 pm – Officers investigated an abandoned 911 call from a Constitution Road residence. (There is a problem with the phone lines).
  • 7:12 pm – A resident from William Onthank called to complain about solicitors in the neighborhood.
  • 7:21 pm – A resident of Latisquama Road called to complain about solicitors in the neighborhood.
  • 9:10 pm – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Turnpike Road business.
  • 10:34 pm – Officers investigated an abandoned 911 call from a Constitution Road residence. (There is a problem with the phone lines).

  • 12:02 am – A Southville Road resident called to report that a male subject had just tried to deliver a pizza to her house. Officers responded to the area, but the male subject had already left the area.
  • 12:14 am – Officers investigated an abandoned 911 call from a Turnpike Road business.
  • 1:00 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Willow Street business.
  • 1:01 am – ARRESTED: Jay Torgerson of Lyford Road, Hopkinton, MA. Mr. Torgerson was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Red Light violation, and Speeding.
  • 5:44 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Sears Road residence.
  • 5:57 am – Officers investigated an abandoned 911 call from a Constitution Drive residence.
  • 7:05 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Northboro Road business.
  • 11:20 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Parkerville Road residence.
  • 11:22 am – A resident of Sunrise Drive reported a dog versus fox confrontation. The fox had left the area, and the Animal Control Officer was notified.
  • 12:44 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Northboro Road business.
  • 1307 pm – A motorist reported a large piece of furniture in the roadway on Turnpike Road. An officer responded and removed the furniture from the road.
  • 2:29 pm – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Presidential Road residence.
  • 2:43 pm – A resident of Fisher Road reported to police that someone had vandalized his mailbox by lighting a smoke bomb and leaving it in the mailbox. Officers responded and took a report.
  • 3:38 pm – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Presidential Road residence.
  • 7:50 pm – Officers assisted a disabled motorist on Turnpike Road.
  • 8:10 pm – A resident of Lovers Lane reported a stray dog in the area. The Animal Control Officer was notified.
  • 10:09 pm – ARRESTED: Brian Leger of First Way, Worcester, MA. Mr. Leger was charged with Domestic Assault and Battery as a result of an altercation that took place at a Woodland Road residence.

Sunday, October 16, 2011

  • 2:56 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Turnpike Road residence.
  • 4:59 am – A medical was reported at a Sarsenstone Way residence.
  • 6:22 am – ARRESTED: John Mucci of Pilling Street, Haverhill, MA. Mr. Mucci was charged with OUI Liquor and Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, second offense.
  • 9:42 am – ARRESTED: Shane Rausch of Barrett Road, Enfield, CT. Mr. Rausch was charged with Domestic Assault & Battery, as a result of an altercation that had occurred at the Red Roof Inn.
  • 10:31 pm – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Burnett Road residence.
  • 5:02 pm – A motorist reported a large couch in the roadway on Turnpike Road. Officers responded and removed the couch from the road.
  • 8:37 pm – Officers found an open door while conducting a check of a business on Turnpike Road. The owner was notified, and officers were able to secure the door to the business.
  • 8:46 pm – A Deerfoot Road resident reported a barking dog complaint. Officers took a report and the Animal Control Officer was notified.
  • 10:06 pm – A Bryden Road resident requested and obtained a Harassment Prevention Order.

Monday, October 17, 2011

  • 7:03 am – Officers assisted a disabled motorist on Cordaville Road.
  • 7:14 am – A suspicious motor vehicle was reported on Highland Road. Officers responded and confirmed that it was a resident sitting in their own car.
  • 7:41 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Turnpike Road business.
  • 8:45 am – A passing motorist reported a dead deer on Cordaville Road. The Animal Control Officer was notified.
  • 9:03 am – Officers investigated a two car, motor vehicle accident on Turnpike Road. No injuries were reported and an accident report will be filed.
  • 10:43 am – A medical was reported on Moulton Road.
  • 12:09 am – A motorist reports ladders and pipes in the roadway on Turnpike Road. Officers responded to the area and removed the debris.

Why do the police use Facebook to post the police log rather than the Southborough Police Department web page?
