Water rates for Southborough expected to decrease next year

The MWRA announced earlier this month that water rates will increase an average of 3.9% for its member communities. The actual rate change for each town varies based on a number of factors, and turns out that’s good news for Southborough.

While towns like Milton, Arlington, Waltham, and Lexington will likely see rate increases next year by as much as 8.5%, Southborough is actually expected to see a decrease. Preliminary data shows our rates my drop by a surprising (at least to me) 18%.

Southborough is one of 61 communities served by the MWRA. You can read more about the proposed rate changes in this article by the Metrowest Daily News.
