After more than a week of idle time thanks to a first-round bye and some uncooperative weather, the Algonquin girls lacrosse team finally got in their Central Mass Division 1 quarterfinal game yesterday afternoon. Turns out the week off and the rain falling at game time did nothing to dampen the team’s spirit as they rolled past Bromfield by a score of 19-5.

That means the top-ranked girls will move on to the semifinals where they’ll face 4th-seed Shrewsbury. Game time is Thursday at 6:00 pm at Foley Stadium in Worcester.

While the girls got their game in, yesterday’s rain postponed a number of other Algonquin postseason matches. The Algonquin baseball team was scheduled to face Burncoat on Monday afternoon, but will play today instead (4:00 pm at Burncoat). The girls tennis match against Watchusett was also rescheduled to today due to the weather (2:30 pm at Watchusett).

Finally, tonight the top-ranked Algonquin boys lacrosse team is scheduled to face 4th-seed St. John’s in the Central Division 2 semifinals at 7:15 pm at Foley Stadium in Worcester.

Best of luck to all the teams in their games today.
