Tornado watch in effect until 9:00 pm

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the eastern half of the state, including Southborough.

“A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for developing tornado activity (and straight line winds – Microburst) as well,” Emergency Operations Director Neal Aspesi said in an email. Aspesi advises residents to monitor weather reports and outside conditions.

“If a Tornado Warning is issued and/or spotted seek immediate shelter in side a solid structure in the corner of the basement or inner most/smallest room/closet on the lowest level. Stay away from windows,” Aspesi said.

The tornado watch will be in effect until 9:00 pm. An urban and small stream advisory is also in effect until 7:30 pm.
