Looking for a spot to go sledding? Think Chestnut Hill Farm.

There’s still a bit of snow on the ground, and forecasts say we might get a touch more tonight. Maybe not enough to break out the sleds, but the next time you’re looking for a spot to zoom down the slopes, don’t forget about Chestnut Hill Farm.

In 2006, Southborough residents voted to permanently protect a large parcel of open space at Chestnut Hill Farm. Thanks to that decision, the land is now open to all for hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and of course, sledding.

Mike Francis of The Trustees of Reservations, which manages the site, tells me the parking area at Chestnut Hill was improved this fall. “It’s now crushed-stone so it’s much easier to get in and out of without having to worry about getting stuck!” he said.

The parking area is located about half way down Chestnut Hill Road (map). If you’ve never explored the area, it’s worth checking out. More information, including trail maps, are available on the Trustees website here.
